Guidelines FALL/WINTER 2021:
The anthology will publish a limited number of accepted works.
GUIDELINES AND RULES
1. Who may submit:
a. You must be at least 21 years old to enter.
2. What you may submit:
a. 1-5 poems no more than 40 lines per poem; OR
b. 1-2 short stories no more than 4000 words; OR
c. 1-4 flash fiction pieces 500 words or less; OR
d. 1-2 essays not more than 3000 words; OR
e. 1-3 extremely short plays, each play no more than 3 pages or 750 words (including setting and character descriptions)
f. 1-2 short plays, each play no more than 3000 words (including setting and character descriptions).
g. Only original, unpublished work will be accepted.
h. Submissions must be in English. If a quotation is used in a language other than English, you must supply a translation.
3. What are the entry categories?
a. All decisions by the edtors are final.
b. The editors will select works from five categories:
ii. short story
iii. flash fiction
v. extremely short play
vi. short play
4. How to submit:
a. All work must be submitted electronically.
b. You will submit your work through cawanthology.com website on a Google Form.
c. You must complete the online entry form with all required information, [your name, address, phone number, e-mail, title(s) of work submitted, and a short bio (50 words maximum).]
d. By submitting your work, you guarantee that you own all rights to your work.
e. Do not put your name anywhere within the file. The title of your file must include your name. Submit your work as a document file (doc, docx).
f. We reserve the right to reformat your work.
6. When to submit:
a. Entries will be accepted until a maximum of 50 submissions are received.
b. Submissions must not include hate speech or violence.
c. Multiple entries are allowed.
d. Simultaneous submissions are permitted. You must notify us immediately by email at if your work is accepted elsewhere for publication.
7. When will I be notified?
a. Authors will be notified by email of acceptance in the anthology by the CAW Anthology Editor-in-Chief.
8. Who retains rights to my work?
a. Upon publication in print, online, on social media and podcast, all rights revert to the author. You grant Calling All Writers and its affiliates the rights to publish the submitted work and promote it in print, on social media, in an e-book, and a podcast as part of this anthology. Please read the following waiver.
WAIVER AND HOLD HARMLESS: By participating in this competition, you agree to waive the right to institute or file suit for any action for damages or other relief (including injunctive, declaratory, or monetary relief or other) against Calling All Writers and any and all of its affiliates (including, but not limited to, Hannah’s Books, Tammy Green and/or those assisting her or its affiliates and any editor or assistant editor or judge involved in the submission, selection and publication in any form or media, hereafter referred to as “we” and “us”). You further agree to hold us harmless. We maintain the right to reject and refuse participation in this contest for any reason pursuant to the contest guidelines and rules, and we reserve the right to make exceptions and amendments to these guidelines and rules. You agree to the privacy and security policies of cawanthology.com, Wix.com, and any third-party entities involved in information collection in order to collect submissions for this contest, and for sales and promotion of the CAW Anthology.
